It was my lucky day – no line to get into US-7720, Roger W. Wheeler State Beach in Rhode Island. I guess 45 F, rain and high winds will do that. The farm van/POTA van is in the shop, so I had to use the Mom Car. Well, it was my mom’s car; she drove it every day until she died four years ago.
That car has no metal, so I used the 17-foot Chameleon and three radials. I’ve never profited by using the matching unit, so I just adjust the whip manually.
Twenty meters was so-so, but a highlight was commiserating about the lousy weather with KC3JAS Judy.  Unlike 20m, 15m and 10m were bumping. Today was the first time I’ve had hunters from Alaska and Hawaii in the same activation; Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay were all in the mix.
Thanks to all the chasers out there! You made a gloomy day in Rhode Island lots of fun. 73 and best DX from Jim KC1QDZ
