PAWA Tag Team POTA Cookout – Event Description – From Saturday, September 19th, 2026

Enjoyed a full, exciting day during out Tag Team POTA Cookout, Fox Hunt, and Activation. We had an awesome turnout
with a total of 34 attendees, including both members and guests
Everyone joined in for – Radio – Teamwork, and hands‑on operating Along sharing stories and lunch

We want to send out a Big Thank You to KC1NDQ, Fran and to Marie and her staff of Smith Farms at Borderland
For their support and hospitality throughout the event, their help added so much to the day and made everything run smoothly and fun
A special thank‑you also goes to, WÇ1N, Bob, our Chef, who was working the grill and to
KB1WCK, Joe and KC1TLT, Wendy for hosting and coordinating the fox hunt, their teamwork and preparation made the hunt both learning lesson on tracking and fun for everyone who participated.
Along with the fox hunt and cookout, PAWA added a brand‑new twist to the activation
a 2‑meter simplex adventure on 146.775mhz, using only 5 watts from our handheld radios
Operators made 10 contacts using their HTs – We called it – 10 – 2 with 5, has a ring to it, lol
a simple idea that quickly became another one of the enjoyable parts of the day
It was new, different, and surprisingly fun, giving everyone a chance to get activate the park using 2 meter simplex
Beyond the HT challenge, members also worked multiple bands and modes, combining HF, VHF, SSB, CW, and digital activity to fully activate the park as a team, the mix of operators, equipment, and operating styles made the activation a success working as a team and most of all enjoying time spent with friends
This season has sure gone by very quickly, we only have one more Borderland event to go, and that will be
Saturday October 17th – Gate opens at 8:00am – We will have updates to follow
My thoughts
Team PAWA Showed once again that when we come together, we create something special, this event wasn’t just about radio, it was about friendship, team work, and the sprit that makes our club feel like family
