KC1QDZ QRT from San Diego after six days, twelve activations, eight references. I beat that car like a rented mule. My favorite park remains Cabrillo National Monument (K-0907), although from Cuyamaca Rancho State Park (K-1142) I unaccountably hit Europe repeatedly, including F4ILH Jean Baptiste Coppin, George OE4JHW and a couple of other operators while having Japanese hunters calling at the same time. Surreal.

Hunters: don’t panic or send me worried emails if I haven’t logged you yet. I’ve been on vacation and I’m uploading them slowly. I’ll be all caught up by the end of the day tomorrow. I’m grateful to all the hunters!

Big shout-out to my XYL for insisting I accompany her on what was for her, a work trip. It really was the opportunity of a lifetime for me, a New Englander. Thanks, babe!

Next up, 16 Feb to 23 Feb: I’ll be CT/KC1QDZ from the “Blue Island” of Faial in the Azores. Eighteen ATNOs to activate! I hope to activate as many as I can while remaining married, and I hope to have you in my log. 73 from Jim KC1QDZ

To this trip

So surprised to hit Europe on 15m from Cuyamaca Rancho, especially
With this mountain in the way

Surprisingly good reports on 20m from Chameleon whip fully extended, one radial
less good on 15m
